The Jockey Club to offer Free Tickets for Racing Grooms

 In Press Releases

Grooms from racing yards are being offered thousands of free tickets by Jockey Club Racecourses to go racing in their spare time, as part of a new initiative with the National Trainers Federation’s website RacingGroom.com.

Tickets on offer will include selected days of The Festival™ presented by Magners, The Randox Health Grand National Festival and QIPCO Guineas Festival and many more across the UK.

Jockey Club Racecourses is encouraging racing grooms to bring a guest for free by making available a pair of tickets for all of the 19 selected fixtures.

Delia Bushell, Group Chief Executive at The Jockey Club said: “We’re passionate about supporting racing industry staff and always looking for ways to show our appreciation for what they do. Put simply, our sport would not continue to thrive, and millions of people would not be able to enjoy a day at the races without the hard work and dedication of those who work in racing yards up and down the country.

“In 2018 we launched an initiative at all 15 of our racecourses giving free food and drink to stable staff attending our tracks with a horse running that day. It has proved incredibly popular and I’m delighted that we are now teaming up with RacingGroom.com to offer grooms free tickets for days when they’re not working, allowing them to enjoy a day out doing something they love.”

Shelley Perham, Recruitment & Retention Consultant at the National Trainers Federation said: “More than 6,000 racing grooms play a key role in providing first class care and attention to more than 14,000 racehorses in training. It is essential that this skilled and dedicated workforce is supported, rewarded and developed. We’re so pleased to be working with Jockey Club Racecourses on this initiative and hope all racing grooms get to enjoy a few days out with a guest”.

To claim their tickets, racing grooms are required to sign up free-of-charge to Racinggroom.com. Full details can be found in the members’ hub online. Once the ID card has been issued, tickets can be collected from the racecourse.

RacingGroom.com was established in 2018 by the National Trainers Federation with funding from The Racing Foundation. It is a free resource for all racing staff and for those looking to enter the industry to complement existing careers advice services in British Racing.
